Congratulations to the All-Ontario Peewee AAA Champions
With the Drop of the puck, one of 2 things was going to happen-> Toronto was going to complete their undefeated run through the Championship or Gloucester was going to dethrone the Kings.

When arriving at the arena on Saturday, the 2 teams were first treated to an amazing ending to the Bronze Medal Game between Kingston Jr Frontenacs & the Nickel City Sons.

Nickel City took a 3-2 lead at the 5 minute mark of the 3rd period but everyone in attendance knew that was not going to be the final score. The game was back & forth and the excitement level matched that of any Championship game.

With 10 seconds left in Regulation, Kingston found the back of the net to draw even. The excitement didnt end there as the Nickel City goaltender stood tall & made the save of the game with 4 second left to preserve the tie forcing Sudden-Death Overtime.

The teams traded scoring opportunities in the opening minute of the extra frame & Kingston capped off the comeback in the 2nd minute to claim the Bronze Medal with a 4-3 victory.

As the ice was cleared and prepared for the anticipated start to the Gold Medal game, the sense of uncertainty started to fill the air. Could Gloucester do what few had been able to do all season & shock the Marlies?

After a scoreless 1st period, the teams played a safe 2nd period but, Mitchell Stephens broke the goose egg for the Marlies with a major league slap shot from the faceoff dot to take a 1-0 lead into the 3rd.

In the Final frame, Dillon Strome redirected a pass into the top corner to increase the lead. Gloucester never let up & continued to force the play. But Stephens, Strome & supporting cast showed why they were the odds on favourite, winning the 2010 All-Ontario Peewee 'AAA' Championship by a score of 4-0.

Congratulation to the Toronto Marlboros team & organization for your accomplishment!

In closing, it was an exceptional week of hockey and every team demonstrated a high level of competition, respect and appreciation for their opponents.  As Try-Outs for next years teams are around the corner, it was a great conclusion to the 2009-10 Season and was an absolute pleasure for the Huron Perth Lakers AAA Organization to Host this years Championship. We hope everyone enjoyed your time & experience in our home.

Thanks again to all the Sponsors, Volunteers, the 97 Lakers Team, Lakers Executive & especially Penny Brookshaw for the hard work to make it all possible.

Good luck to all & we look forward to the next opportunity to invite you to visit & compete in Huron Perth.
