Something very big happened in Lakerland tonight - our new website became alive! We hope that all our visitors will find this new website extremely useful and we will do our best to make sure that information is presented as soon as it becomes available. Click the title of this article to see the features of the new site.
The new site is organized into two "modes" - Organization Mode and Team Mode. When you first visit the site you enter into Organization Mode, where you will be able to see upcoming games, the next five days of ice usage, and upcoming events for all the Lakers teams. The red menu at the top is common for both Modes and contains information relevant to the organization as a whole. At the top-left of the page in Organization Mode will be a link to each of the currently active teams. Clicking on one of these teams puts the site into Team Mode, where all information presented is filtered for that team. Once in Team Mode, you will have access to team-specific pages such as the player roster and the game schedule. You can exit Team Mode and return to Organization Mode at any time by clicking the "Home" link in the left of the red menu, just below the Lakers logo.
As I'm sure you've already noticed, scheduling will be the central component to this new site. All Lakers games, practices, and tournaments from all teams will be entered into the site. This means that you will be able to view upcoming games, calendars, schedules, etc. on this site without having to go to Bladenet. Scores will also be reported on this site for every game; quite often before they appear on Bladenet. Our ice scheduling staff will ensure that any changes to the schedule are posted on the site as soon as they happen, so make sure you check with the website before travelling to verify no changes have been made. Making this site your home page will guarantee that you'll never miss anything happening with your team over the next five days.
You will also be able to check out what other Lakers teams are doing while your team is in action. Feel free to show your support for other teams in the organization if you notice that they are playing before or after your game. The site is both interactive and intelligent - meaning that you can ask it for the information you want, and it will give it to you. Want to see the entire schedule for all of the Lakers; including all games, practices, tournaments, events, and even birthdays?
Check this out.
Another key component of the site is the player rosters and the player profiles. Every player that is a part of the organization will get his or her own player profile, including a photo and a bio. If a coach chooses to display statistics on the website, then each players statistics (and career statistics) will also be displayed as a part of that profile.
The site also features a administration control panel which allows for authorized members to input data into the site. This will allow each team to designate some volunteers to help keep the site up-to-date with news articles and upcoming events for each team. If you have any news items you wish to contribute, please contact that team's representative to have it posted to the site.
Another major component of the site is dedicated to the sponsors; whose generosity has helped many of our players meet the financial demands of playing elite hockey. Corporate sponsors for the organization will appear on every page while in Organization mode, while corporate sponsors for a specific team will appear on every page while in Team Mode. Player sponsors will appear in the player profiles. Every sponsor will have the opportunity to provide a logo for their company as well as a link from our site to their's; just our way of saying thanks for their support.
We hope you enjoy the new website and find it useful for your needs. We would like to thank MicroAge Basics in Goderich for making our new site a priority and getting it ready to go faster than anyone could have expected. Over the last part of November the site will continue to experience some minor changes and bug fixes - so if you spot anything please contact
MicroAge Basics directly and let them know. If you would like to share your thougts with us about the new site, please send them to our current President,
Todd Goetz.
Go Lakers Go!
