Major Peewees Up Against the Wall
The Major Peewees are in the championship final against Elgin-Middlesex. Down 3 games, the Lakers have their work cut out for them.
A lack of offense has hurt the Lakers, despite posting some solid
efforts. Game 1, the Lakers outplayed Elgin-Middlesex but had nothing to
show for their effort - ending with a 1-0 loss.
Game 2, when the Lakers
should have come back for redemption, Elgin-Middlesex was the team
that had the advantage and grabbed a 2-0 win.
Down 2 games to 0, the
Lakers made the trip to Elgin-Middlesex motivated to effect change.
After the first two periods, despite end to end play and our share of
opportunities, the Lakers found themselves down 2-0. A motivated Lakers
squad took the ice in the third and the score was soon even at 2-2. The
Lakers had the momentum until Elgin-Middlesex jumped to a 3-2 lead.
Late in the third, the Lakers were fortunate to have the man advantage
after some undisciplined play by Elgin-Middlesex; however, despite
having the 6 on 4 advantage, the Lakers were unable to convert.
The
Lakers face Elgin-Middlesex today, March 17th, in a do or die contest
at 3 p.m. in Brussels.
