Championship Teams Recognized at Banquet
On top of an excellent meal, great guest speaker and tremendous participation, the recognition of the Major Bantams and Major Peewees Eastern division Championship titles made this evening a special event.
Clarke Singer, Head Coach for the Western Mustangs, gave a poignant presentation that drove home the importance of education for the athlete. Clarke's statement that scholarships are common to Canadian athletes that have an 80% or greater average in our sport was a terrific message. And acknowledging that it was realistic that many AAA level kid's could attain that opportunity was a tremendous message for our athletes. Clarke went on to stress the importance of hard work and put a heavy emphasis on being a "good teammate".
The Major Peewee's and Major Bantam's were both recognized with plaques for their Eastern Division Championship and performed the traditional "Banner Signing". As the athletes were introduced and the success's of their seasons shared every player received a Laker cooler bag for carrying those all important game/ practice snacks. Many Thanks To Julie Mconnell, Richard Ghetke and Candace Chaffe, and the many others that worked so hard to making this a memorable evening.
