Huron Perth Lakers are pleased to announce Jason Brooks as the returning Head Coach for the U16 (2010's) for the 2025-26 season.
Jason has been coaching for almost 30 years after his playing career ended due to a head injury. His lengthy coaching resume includes 2 years as assistant coach at the University of Waterloo and 12 years in the OHL (Guelph Storm, Niagara IceDogs) as Assistant Coach, Head Coach and General Manager, winning the OHL championship with Guelph and attending the Memorial Cup twice. During his time in the OHL, he was also part of Hockey Canada’s Program Of Excellence as an Assistant Coach and Head Coach of Team Ontario U17, winning the gold medal at the World Hockey Challenge and also attending the Canada Winter Games. During his time in these roles, he had the privilege to coach future NHL players and Olympians including Drew Doughty, Ryan Callahan, John Tavares, Steven Stamkos and Carter Verhaeghe to name a few. Due to health reasons, Jason left the OHL and began coaching at various levels from tyke to junior, including the Listowel Jr. B Cyclones, where he led the team to two Cherrey Cup championships and the team’s first-ever Sutherland Cup championship. He has served on many hockey association executive boards, works as an advisor and has done individual and group hockey lessons for many years. This will be his second year as the Head Coach of the 2010 Huron-Perth Lakers and he looks forward to preparing his players for hockey life beyond HPL!
