ECHL All Star Appointed Lakers Head Goalie Coach
The Lakers are pleased to announce that Cory Campbell has been appointed the Lakers Head Goalie Coach…

Cory started out playing minor hockey in Stratford until Minor Bantam when he started playing in Waterloo. He played an underage year of midget before playing his midget year following which he was drafted in the 5th round by the OHL’s Belleville Bulls. The following year he made the jump to the OHL. He played four years in the OHL with Belleville, Guelph, Sarnia, and Windsor. He was named to the OHL All Rookie team in 1999 and won the OHL Championship that same year. As a member of the OHL Champion Belleville Bulls he then competed in the Memorial Cup where he was named to the Memorial Cup All Star team. Later, Cory received an invitation to the training camp for Canada’s entry in the 2000 World Juniors.

Cory was drafted in the 3rd round (92nd overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in 1999. He played three years of professional hockey with teams in the UHL and ECHL. Cory was a member of the 2002-03 UHL Champion Fort Wayne Komets. The following year he was named to the ECHL All Star team.

Returning to the area three years ago, Cory has been concentrating on building up his strength and conditioning business (Cor Fitness). He develops off season programs and works directly with athletes to get them in shape for their upcoming seasons and careers. He also delivers tutorials and trains people who are just looking to get in shape or stay in shape for various reasons, such as weight loss or health reasons. His new website (www.corfit.ca) is currently under development and should be available shortly with descriptions of his programs, articles and other information.

Locally, Cory was the Goalie Coach for the Junior B Stratford Cullitons these past two seasons but was looking for something that didn't require as great a time commitment while still allowing him to continue to mentor and develop young talented goalies - the Lakers seem a perfect fit.

Cory is looking forward to meeting and working with all the Lakers goalies – Minor Atom through Major Midget – at the series of goalie clinics beginning this month and continuing over the fall.

Congratulations to Cory on his appointment and welcome to the Lakers family!
