Lakers Alumnus Justin Peters Named First Star in NHL Debut
In his first NHL start, Lakers alumnus Justin Peters backstopped his Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday night. Not only was he named First Star for the game but he also had his parents, Jeff & Janice, as well as his youngest brother Alex (who plays for the Minor Bantam Lakers) in the stands to witness the event firsthand.

Peters was stellar throughout this game with a big stop on Sean Bergenheim's partial breakaway in the first period, a series of great stops on Jon Sim in the second, and the denial of Blake Comeau on his clear breakaway in the 3rd period (see videos below).

Peters turns aside Bergenheim at 17:37 of the 1st period

Peters stops Sim (twice) at 12:14 of the 2nd.

Peters denies Comeau at 1:13 of the 3rd period.

Congratulations to Justin on his excellent play and the Lakers wish him every success as his pro hockey career continues.
