"The process was very
challenging as we set out to complete the Team Staff based on a very qualified
group of applicants from ALLIANCE Hockey. We feel very confident
that the selected Staff will do a great job of bringing a group of our best ’97
born players together and create a first-class team to represent the ALLIANCE,"
stated Gary McFarlane, Team ALLIANCE Director of Operations.
The
Team Staff will work throughout the season to identify potential Team
ALLIANCE players to compete at the 2013 Gold Cup.
The 2013 Gold Cup will feature the best 1997-born players in Ontario
competing in a 8-team tournament with representation from each of the following
organizations: ALLIANCE Hockey, GTHL(2 teams), HNO, NOHA, ODHA and OMHA(2
teams). The tournament is being
held to identify potential players for Team Ontario who will
represent the Province and compete for a gold medal at the 2014 World Under 17
Hockey Challenge. The Gold Cup will be a key
part of the revamped Hockey Canada Program of Excellence and will replace the
Regional Under 17 Camps that the HNO, ODHA and OHF Member Partners have hosted
in previous years.
