University of Michigan visit for PeeWee team
The Major Peewee Lakers enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend away visiting the state of Michigan for a team building weekend.

The weekend events opened Friday night with an exhibition game against Victory Honda in Plymouth where the Lakers were able to build up a 4-1 lead and eventually hold on for a 4-3 victory.

Saturday was certainly the highlight of the weekend for the young Laker team where they visited Yost Arena, home to the University of Michigan Wolverines hockey team. A private tour of the facility was provided by team staff where the players got up close and personal with the facility including the workout facilities, player’s lounge and of course the dressing room of the Wolverines hockey team. The inquisitive minds were very intrigued by the messages and the possibility of playing University hockey for Michigan.

With a short walk from Yost Arena to the “Big House” the team was treated to some homecoming weekend football action that pitted Michigan Wolverines against their rival the Northwestern Wildcats. With their new Michigan shirts, hats and other gear on the boys loudly cheered the home team to a 31-0 victory.

Topping off the weekend was another exhibition game versus Honeybaked at the Farmington Hills Ice Facility in Farmington Hills. After getting off to a rough start the team battled back to close the score to 3-2 in the second period however the team just didn’t have enough left in the tank and eventually lost 6-3.

The weekend surely opened the eyes of the boys to see and understand what could be the future steps in their hockey careers.

Thanks goes out to the University of Michigan Hockey personnel for opening up their facilities for the Huron Perth Lakers.

Future Michigan Wolverines?……… possibly……
