Major Midget Lakers Out of the Gate Strong
The Huron Perth Lakers AAA Major Midget team started their Exhibition schedule on Wednesday night against Waterloo. After outshooting the hometown Wolves 33-9, the Lakers left Rim Park with a solid 5-0 victory.

The Lakers opened the scoring midway through the 1st period after Bryan McCauley deflected a Nik McIver point shot into the top corner of the net. Minutes into the 2nd period, Dylan Williams pounced on his own rebound to put the Lakers up by 2 and after holding Waterloo to zero shots on net during a 5 on 3 Wolves advantage, Sam Feagan converted a Mitchell Berzins offering to stretch the lead to 3-0 going into the final frame.

In the 3rd period, Williams potted his 2nd of the game with Jordan Currie notching the helper on the Powerplay. Mitch McIntosh closed out the scoring for the Lakers with an unassisted marker. Although rarely tested, Michael Roefs played the entire game in net for Huron Perth & came up big when needed to preserve the shutout.

Next action for the Lakers is Friday night with a 9 pm game in Kitchener at the Activa arena.
