Major Atoms Winning Ways
The Major Atoms continued their winning ways into regular season with impressive wins over the Cambridge Hawks, Chatham-Kent Cyclones and the Brantford 99ers.

Huron Perth Lakers 3  Cambridge Hawks 2

The Major Atoms traveled to Cambridge to play their first regular season game against the Hawks. This was a very physical and rough game with both teams capitalizing on each others’ penalty trouble. The third period was a nail-biter as each team created opportunities for themselves and went on the offense looking for a way to win the game. With the score tied at two, it would the Lakers great passing and forchecking that would result in the go ahead goal. The Major Atoms battled well to keep in the puck out of the Lakers' zone for the remainder of the game and preserve a hard fought 3-2 victory.

Huron Perth Lakers 5   Chatham-Kent Cyclones 0

The Major Atoms continued their road trip to Chatham Saturday afternoon to play the Cyclones. The Lakers dominated the match and took charge of the game play from the first drop of the puck. The playmaking of the Major Atoms definitely dictated the pace of the game and had the Cyclones on their heels from the get go.  Huron Perth was able to rack up 5 goals through impressive cycling deep in the offensive zone and efficient puck movement through the neutral zone. The Lakers’ defense and netminding were on fire as well, essentially shutting down Chatham-Kent’s offense and chalking up another shutout.

The Major Atoms hosted the Brantford 99ers in their home opener in Listowel on Sunday September 19th The Lakers continued their strong style of play and once again found themselves in the driver’s seat for the duration of the game. The Lakers kept the pressure on offensively and defensively throughout. Their efforts paid off with a 5-2 win.

Next up for the Major Atoms is the London Knights Early Bird Tournament September 24-26th.
