Major Atoms Back on Track
The Major Atoms had a case of “Jekyll & Hyde” hockey over the past few weeks. The Lakers had a strong showing at the London Jr Knights Early Bird Tournament, several disappointing losses but seem to be back on track with 2 wins at home over the weekend.

The Huron Perth Lakers Major Atoms played in their first tournament of the season in the London Knights Early Bird Tournament. The boys played four very competitive games and came away with a 1-1-2 record.

The Lakers only loss of the tournament was to the top ranked Elgin Middlesex Chiefs. The Chiefs would go on to win the London Early Bird Tournament. Overall, this was a successful weekend for the Lakers with each member of the Major Atoms contributing to the team.

The Major Atoms were hoping to carry this momentum into their regular season games against Windsor, Sun County, EMC &  Brantford.  Unfortunately, the Lakers would be served four disappointing losses as they struggled to find the team play and intensity needed to get a win.

This weekend showed how battling hard for the puck and a total team effort does work. The Lakers steadily improved their team play and work ethic over the two games and were rewarded for their diligence.  The Major Atoms earn four points over the weekend with wins over Chatham and Kitchener.

The Major Atoms are currently fourth overall in regular season play in the Alliance Pavilion Major Atom AAA Division (second in the Eastern Division).

Next up for the Major Atoms is the Oktoberfest Tournament in Kitchener October 22-24th. The Atoms play the North York Rangers,  Ottawa Valley Silver 7s, Oshawa Generals and the Guelph Storm in the round robin.
