Major Atoms Earn 3 points on the Road
This past weekend, the Lakers travelled to Hamilton to battle the Reps and came away with a 1-1 tie on Saturday and then followed that up with a hard-fought 4-3 victory against the Eastern Division leaders, Waterloo Wolves on Sunday.

Huron Perth Lakers 1  Hamilton Reps 1

The first period didn’t see any goals but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Both teams traded scoring chances keeping both goalies busy between the pipes. The Lakers would light up the scoreboard first, late in the second period. Despite good positioning and nice passes to the point, after two periods, the score remained 1-0 Lakers. The Reps would manage to even things up with a power play goal in the third.

Despite both goalies being tested often in the last few minutes of the third, neither team would find the game sheet for the remainder of the game. The score would remain 1-1.

Lakers fans were treated to an exciting game that kept them on the edge of their seats. The Lakers played a solid first period but it would be the Wolves that would be leading by 2 after one period of play. A good pep talk from the coaching staff before the second period had the boys fired up. The Lakers would regain their composure and gradually started to apply some pressure and create some scoring opportunities. A power play goal, mid-way through the second, would give the Lakers some life. Trailing by one, the Major Atoms stepped up their game and intensity level. A definite shift in momentum could be felt in the building and Laker fans were on their feet cheering the boys on!!   The Major Atoms would notch two more goals and carry the lead 3-2 into the third.  Despite the Wolves being rattled and spending plenty of time in the penalty box, they managed to tie things up 3-3 late in the third.   Huron Perth was not giving up and with :37 seconds left, the puck was fired over the Wolves goalie's shoulder, finding the back of the net. Lakers would hold on to the 4-3 victory.
