Moir Gets Hat Trick – Lakers Advance
The Minor Midgets advanced to the Alliance Semi finals on the strength of Taylor Moir’s 3 goal performance. The Lakers swept the Windsor Spitfires 3 games to none by defeating the Spits 3 – 1 in game 3.

Moir opened the scoring in the first period when he buried a rebound on a shot from Drew Gross from the slot. Moir was alone at the side of the goal and made no mistake scoring in the wide open net. Adam Zehr earned the second assist on the goal. The period ended with the Lakers up 1 – 0 and outshot Windsor 12 – 6 in the opening frame. Laker goalie Evan Wigmore was not busy in the period but made some big saves to keep the Spits off the board.
Moir struck again in the second period on a 5 on 3 power play when he gathered up a rebound on the side of the net in similar fashion as his first goal and scored his second of the game. Jacob Middleton took the shot from the point after receiving a pass from his defence partner Alex Peters. Moir was in a great position to pick up the rebound and bang it home. Moir scored his third goal of the game and notch the hat trick when he sniped a shot from the high slot beating the Spits goalie top shelf on the glove side. Zehr recorded his second assist of the game and Ethan Adair also assisted on the goal. The Lakers led 3 – 0 entering the break.

Windsor finally beat Wiggy in the first minute of the third period on a wrist shot to the top corner blocker side. The Lakers dominated the rest of the period and advanced to the next round of the playoffs against the Sun County Panthers. Kudos to Taylor Moir with his 3 goal game and registering his second hat trick of the season.
