Minor Atoms weekend win solidified their 3rd place standing in the West Division

Written by Chris Holloway

The Huron Perth Laker Minor Atoms had a .500 weekend going 1-1 but greatly improved their status in the Alliance West League Standings. On Saturday Night in St.Marys the Lakers hosted the London Jr. Nights for an exhibition game but lost 4-2. Sam Sedley played well in front of his home-town fans with a goal and an assist. Patrick Holloway notched a single goal and Carter Servais had an assist. Jack Stecho earned the Laker Chain for several fine defensive plays.

The Lakers used that loss as motivation on Sunday as they pummelled the Hamilton Huskies 6-1 at the Allman Arena in Alliance action. The win solidified Huron-Perth's 3rd place standing in the West Division as they now sit 6 points clear of 4th place Hamilton & Cambridge. Kyle Powers was his usual steady-self allowing just the single goal. Luke Gaylor earned the Lakers chain with 2 goals and an assist, while linemate Jackson McLlwain chipped in a goal and 2 assists.  Holloway, Servais and Tanner Dietz, while the Lakers were shorthanded 5 on 3, rounded out the scoring. Luke deVries chipped in 2 assists from the back end, while Logan Harmer, Brady Ballantyne, Camden Daigle and Cole Melady had single assists. The young Lakers now sit in 4th place overall in their 12 team Alliance League as they head to the Preston International Tournament this upcoming weekend.
