Minor Atoms tie Waterloo
Written by Chris Holloway

The HP Laker Minor Atoms earned a hard fought tie 2-2  with Waterloo on Sunday afternoon at RIM. After Waterloo took a 1-0 lead in the first Patrick Holloway tied the score early in the 2nd period with a shot from the high-slot. Luke Gaylor and Logan Harmer did the dirty work behind the net earning assists on the play.

Then early in the 3rd period Camden Daigle took a feed from Cole Melady and sped down the left wing and fired a shot that handcuffed the Waterloo goaltender and ended up in the net. Unfortunately Waterloo tied the score a few minutes later with a nice shorthanded goal. Aaron Waugh was very solid in net for the Lakers not having a chance on either puck that got by him. Melady was a force up front generating some high quality offensive chances while Wade Robinson and Luke deVries were stalwart defensively. deVries' strong defensive play earned him the Laker chain. The Minor Atoms continue to hold down 3rd place in the tough Alliance East Division and 4th overall, with just 2 regular season games remaining before playdown action.
