Please welcome back Dave Schlitt as the HPL Minor Midget Coach!
The Huron-Perth Lakers are pleased to announce that Head Coach Dave Schlitt and Assistant Coaches Steve Chesley and Andy Schlitt will return for a second season behind the bench of the Huron-Perth Lakers Minor Midget program.

The Minor Midget Lakers compiled an overall record of 35 wins – 15 losses -11 ties during the 2012-2013 hockey season.  Team accomplishments included an Alliance Hockey Eastern Division regular season championship, Alliance Hockey playdown semi-finalists and champions of the Waterloo Gold Puck Tournament. 

The Minor Midgets capped off their highly successful season with an appearance in the OHL Cup Showcase Tournament.  Now entering his fifth season with the Lakers, Dave Schlitt spent three seasons with the Lakers Major Midget program, one season as its Head Coach (2011-2012) and two seasons as an Assistant Coach (2009-2010 and 2010-2011).  In his three seasons with the Lakers Major Midgets, Dave helped lead the team to its first appearance in the Alliance Hockey Championship finals (2009-2010) and two semi-final appearances.

Prior to joining the Lakers, Dave was a Head Coach for thirteen seasons at the AAA and AA levels of Waterloo Minor Hockey, including five seasons (2004-2009) as Head Coach of the Waterloo Wolves Major Midget AAA program.

Dave holds his Advanced 1 Coaching Certification in the Hockey Canada/NCCP Coaching program and is involved with Alliance Hockey as an NCCP Certification Clinic Facilitator (2003 – 2013), an Evaluator and Coach in the Under-17 program (2003 – 2012) and as the Head Coach (2013) and an Assistant Coach (2010) of the Under-16 program.

In addition to his duties with the Lakers, Dave is also the Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Waterloo Warriors Men’s Hockey program where he assists in identifying, scouting and recruiting potential student-athletes for the Warriors hockey program.
