Lakers almost get first league win today, but had to settle for one point in a shoot out loss to Lambton.
The team came out hard and were ready to knock off Lambton and give them their first loss of the season.The Lakers scored their first goal on a short handed effort by Haddock, on the second shot of the game to make it 1-0.
Lambton tied it up soon after on a power play goal, and it stayed that way until Gabriel put one in to give them a 2-1 lead. Lambton then scored another power play goal to even the score at 2-2 going into first intermission. Shots in the first were 18-9 for Lambton.
The Lakers came out in the second and scored a quick goal to make it 3-2 and carried the play for most of the period. The goal was from Burns, who fired a laser to the top corner from about 15 feet out. Shots in second were 12-7 for Lakers.
Third period started out with Burns tipping in his second goal of the game from in tight, to put Lakers up 4-2.
That score didn't last long as Lambton came right back on their next shift and put one in to get closer at 4-3.
That score held up until the final minute of play in the third when Lambton fired a power play goal in to even the score.
Shots in the third were 12-10 for Lambton for a regular game total of 39-32 for the Sting. A five minute over time came and went with no goals allowed by either team and a shootout ensued. Shots in OT were 2-1 for the Sting.
In the shootout, Lambton buried 2 shots to win the game giving the Lakers 1 point for the shootout loss. All in all, the team tried to the very end and almost got the Win.
