Minor Peewees have another 3 point weekend
Written by Ron Pryce

The Lakers  played a better disciplined match against the London Jr. Knights in a great end to end battle and probably out chanced the Knights getting a few favourable bounces but just couldn’t get the goal to win this match leaving it a 1 – 1 tie .  The Laker goal  started from Sheldon Pryce behind the net passing to Kayden Schooley who wheeled around with a backhand shot scoring 5 hole on the London Goalie .  Excellent  defensive work, blocking shots and getting in the shooting lanes to help Dylan Kints in net who had a superb game and a hot glove!

On Sunday the Windsor Jr. Spitfires came to town to face a pretty confident Laker squad.  Even though Windsor scored 1st in this game, the boys would start to go to work on the offence and at the start of the 2nd  Jack Robinson from the point getting a nice low shot on net which would create a rebound for Blake Wideman to fire in the net .  Then later in the 2nd  Robinson again from the point with a duplicate shot, low and hard on net with another rebound for Kayden Hoggarth to find this time and score to give the Lakers the lead.  Windsor would find themselves shorthanded for a good part of this game not allowing them to make a comeback . Then in the 3rd,  with some nice work along the boards by Tyler Hotson, would create a loose puck for Zac McCann to snipe one through the 5 hole to make the game 3 – 1 .  As the Lakers continued to block shots and own the neutral zone, a Laker collision at centre ice created a loose puck for Connor Aarts to grab and notice the open ice , had one opponent to beat and Connor put a highlight real move on him and then a beauty shot over the blocker of the Windsor goalie putting the Lakers up 4 – 1.  Windsor was not about to quit and would come back to score another with 2:00 minutes to go in the game making it 4 -2 .  Then with the Windsor goalie pulled , Sheldon Pryce  with some nice forechecking  at the Windsor blue line,  was able to steel the puck and score on the backhand to put this game away winning with a 5–2 score.  Hardy Westman  did his job in net holding the opponent to just 2 , and again  a great game played by the whole team to top off the 3 point weekend!!
