U12 Lakers roll into the Alliance Championship!!
The 2014 Huron Perth Lakers have kept their winning ways going through the first two rounds of the Alliance playoffs.
Round one saw the boys face off against the 8th seeded London Jr Knights. In game one the young Lakers found themselves in a spot they were not used to being, down 2 goals early. They would fight back to tie the score at 3 and send the game to overtime in which they would take care of business quickly scoring less than a minute into the extra frame. Game 2 shifted to London and would see a much different result as Huron Perth would come away with a comfortable 4-1 win. Elimination games are always the toughest and this would be no different. The Lakers would pound the Knights net tallying 57 shots but the London goalie would turn away almost all of them with only 1 getting by as the home team would take it by a score of 1-0 and clinch the series.
Round two would see a matchup with Sarnia, hot off an extremely close series with the Elgin Middlesex Canucks. A week off for the Lakers apparently was what they needed as they exploded offensively taking all three games by scores of 5-1, 7-0 and 7-1 and outshooting the Sting in the series by a margin of 122 to 17.
They now wait to see who they will play in the Alliance Championship final as the Brantford 99ers and the Sun County Panthers battle it out in the other semi final. Even though they've won 6 straight in the playoffs the boys know the toughest test is yet to come and look forward to a week of rest and practice.
If you haven't had a chance to watch this team I encourage you to do so!!
