Lakers Skate to 4-4 Draw With Kitchener
The Major atoms are now 8 points out of first place in the east, which is an extremely tight division.

The Huron Perth Lakers AAA Major Atoms traveled to Kitchener on Dec. 11th to take on the Jr. Rangers. The Lakers showed no signs of being tired despite playing their 3rd game in 3 days. The first period had both teams skating well. The Rangers took the lead with a goal at the 6 minute marker. Kitchener ran into some penalty trouble at the mid way point and the Lakers power play went to work. Garrett James shoveled the puck into the corner to Gregory Swan who found Jared McCann all alone in the slot. McCann let go a blistering one timer that found the top corner to tie the score at one. The Lakers dominated the 2nd period but could only muster one goal. The power play struck again 4 minutes into the period. Swan picked up the puck in the Ranger corner and slide a pass back to James who loaded up a hard shot towards the Kitchener goalie. Quinton Haddock jumped on the rebound and made a nice wrap around play for the Lakers 2nd goal. The 3rd period started with the Lakers getting an early goal. Swan found McCann with a nifty pass and McCann put a high shot over the glove of the goalie to make the score 3-1. Kitchener soon began a come back as the Lakers stopped skating for a few moments.  Within one minute the score was tied 3-3. Then seconds later Ryan Stulp-Jacobson dumped a puck deep into the Ranger end. Bayley Boyes out hustled the Ranger defense for the loose puck and jammed the puck into the Ranger net putting the Lakers up 4-3. The Jr. Rangers would not quit and tied the score 4-4 with 7 minutes remaining. Both teams had their chances to win the game but could not capitalize on their chances. Lakers goalie Kent Taylor made a couple of good glove saves to preserve the tie.  The Lakers deserved the tie as they worked hard the entire game after a full weekend of exciting hockey. Next up is a game in Brantford on Dec. 16th and then a game in Clinton at 4:30 pm on Dec. 17th against the Waterloo Wolves.
