Laker Midgets Ranked 22nd in Canada
As of Oct. 16 the Huron Perth Lakers AAA Major Midget hockey team was ranked 22nd out of 149 teams in the country and 11th in Ontario, out of 63 teams.

After losing 5-2 on Monday Oct. 16 to the Waterloo Wolves and ending their six game winning streak, the team responded with back to back wins against Hamilton Friday and Kitchener on Sunday.

The Lakers traveled to Waterloo on October 16 to face the second ranked team in the Nation.  Despite scoring first, the Lakers were handed their second loss of the year, with a 5-2 setback.

Sunday night the midgets hosted the Kitchener Jr. Rangers in Goderich.  The Lakers found themselves behind 1-0 aft the first period, but scored 2 second period goals, and exploded for 4 more in the third, for a convincing 6-1 victory.  Despite being short staffed, the midgets got stronger as the game went on and were very effective on special teams, scoring three power play goals and one short handed goal.

The Lakers are now one third of the way into the regular season schedule and have 8 wins and just 2 losses.  The team is in first place in the west division and second in the Alliance league behind first place Waterloo.
