Minor Atoms Finish 3rd in Kitchener Tournament
The Minor Atoms Go Into OT In Semi Final.

The Minor Atoms had an exciting weekend, placing 3rd out of 11 teams in the Kitchener Blue Line AAA Tournament.
 
In the first game the Lakers played Kitchener to a 3-3 tie. Jacob Rooke had 2 goals, assisted by Will Thibeault and Bradley Kraemer in the 1st and in the 3rd by Scott Chisholm and Quinton Maddock. In the 2nd period, Evan Moorehead took a wrist shot from the point and put it in the net assisted by Justin Beuermann and Quinton Maddock. Great game by Mitchell Newson and Brennan Stapleton. AP player Brock Baier made excellent saves between the pipes.

In the 2nd game of the tournament, the Lakers came up short with a loss against Kingston. Cody Treble scored the only goal for the Lakers with assists by Thibeault and Stapleton. Baily Paquette made excellent down low key saves while the Lakers were fighting off their penalties and dealing with injuries.

In game 3 on Saturday, the Minor Atoms played the rough and tough Halton Hurricanes to a 2-2 tie. Tanner Hertel scored the 1st goal assisted by his new line mates: Ben Derrough and Noah Kuno. Will Thibeault scored the 2nd goal assisted by his line mates: Cody Treble and Jacob Rooke. Eric Charlebois and Chad Treble played awesome on defence shutting down the aggressive Hurricanes. Baily Paquette received Game MVP by showing his goaltending skills to the Judging Panel.

In game 4, the Lakers played the Brampton Battalion and smoked them 6-2. MVP of the game was Tanner Hertel who notched his 1st hat trick asssisted by Quinton Maddock, Kade Landry our AP and Eric Charlebois. Will Thibeault scored 2 short-handed goals in the 3rd period - unassisted. Noah Kuno scored the 6th goal assisted by Tanner Hertel. Excellent game by Ben Derrough, Kade Landry, Noah Kuno and AP Brock Baier in net making a lot of face mask saves by the shooting Battalion team. The line of Mitchell Newson, Scott Chisholm and Justin Beuermann could not buy a goal that game despite their valiant effort.

The Lakers moved on to the semi-final matching up against the Toronto Jr Canadians who were undefeated in the last 4 games of the tournament. Tanner Hertel scored his 5th goal of the tournament thanks to a 2 on 1 play with Noah Kuno. Kuno scored the 2nd goal assisted by Chad Treble. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of the 3rd when an out of position referee did not count the goal from Justin Beuermann that was clearly in according to a Jr Canadian parent after the game. The Toronto Jr Canadians beat the Lakers in OT 4 on 4 with 13 seconds to go. 

It was a great weekend boys and we couldn't ask for anything better than those exciting games.
