Mind Set is Key to Play the Competition
Minor Atoms Showing Well But Lacking In Game Mind Set

Coming into this weekend players coaches and parents thought it would be 4 points, I was a little nervous knowing we were missing a player and a couple of kids that had the flu and minor injuries. The main thing is we must be mentally prepared before every game playing at this level. This level is different from any other division in hockey, depending on a few players to perform will not get you a point at this level, you need a full team performance. On Saturday, the Minor Atoms played the Chiefs with a slow start in the first period, the Chiefs scored 4 goals before the Lakers put one in the net. Tanner Hertel scored the first goal assisted by Ben Derrough and Noah Kuno. The Minor Atom Lakers took over in the second and third period leaving the Elgin Middlesex parents worried and nervous. But it was too late, the Chiefs goaltender shut us down on every opportunity that we had to score. We finally scored the 2nd goal by Scott Chisholm (unassisted), the Chiefs deserved the win 5 -2.

On Sunday, Brantford came to Goderich and set the tone with a 5-1 win. Eric Charlebois scored breaking the Brantford shut out, assisted by Tanner Hertel and Noah Kuno. Despite the score we had several chances to tie the game up but again we did not capitalize on our opportunities. Our defence played very well and did their job, great game guys!!!! Ben Derrough, Bradley Kraemer, Quinton Maddock, Chad Treble, Evan Moorehead, and Eric Charlebois. Our AP player Dalton Black worked very hard and showed some very good back-checking to help out the Lakers on Sunday's game. Our next game is in Stratford on Saturday, December 20th at 12:00 pm.
