Kuno notches his 2nd hat-trick of the season.
The Minor Atom Lakers lost to Kitchener 5-1 on Saturday which was hard to swallow as both teams had a 1-1-1 game ratio against each other. The Lakers out shot the Rangers 22 to 5 in the first and second period but could not put a goal pass the Rangers' goaltender.
Tanner Hertel finally scored, assisted by
Mitchell Newson, late in the third period. The 6 Defence played a very solid game:
Chad Treble,
Evan Moorehead,
Quinton Maddock,
Bradley Kraemer,
Ben Derrough, and
Brennan Stapleton.
On Sunday,
Noah Kuno scored his 2nd hat trick thanks in part to his great focus.
Kuno displayed the skills he's developed from his hard work and training at extra hockey development programs in the past and present years.
Jacob Rooke assisted twice with
Tanner Hertel and
Brennan Stapleton also picking up an assist on
Kuno's 3 goals.
Scott Chisholm scored the first goal of the game assisted by
Justin Beuermann.
Will Thibeault scored the fourth goal assisted by
Jacob Rooke.
Chad Treble made some nice rushes with the puck and
Justin Beuermann had several chances to score but the bounces did not go his way. The Lakers had a 4-1 lead going into the third period but did not play their needed team defence as the Sun County Panthers were able to tie up the game at 5-5. Early in the year, the Minor Atoms lost 4-0 to the Panthers so it was clear how much the Lakers had improved by this game.
The Lakers are off for five days for Christmas break and start back up on the 27th of December as we gear up for a very challenging Preston Tournament.
