8-0 in League Play, Minor Peewees Extend Winning Streak to 16!
London Green found themselves in a shooting gallery this past Saturday as the Lakers peppered the LJKG goalie with 52 shots on net while only allowing 10 against. That translated into a 7-1 win which was also the first time the Lakers put their ‘new look’ power play into a game situation. Surprisingly it worked on the first opportunity and helped convince the players of its effectiveness. Almost every Lakers player made it on to the score sheet in a well balanced effort.
On Sunday, the Lakers traveled to Lambton to play the Sting and came away with another convincing win: 5-1. Lakers goaltenders are looking forward more to practices than games these days as the forwards and defense are doing a great job on limiting the opposition's shots on goal. Against the Sting, the Lakers only gave up a meager 6 shots while bombarding the Lambton goalie with 34! Another balanced attack as the only 4 players that didn’t find the score sheet on Saturday, found it in Sunday’s game.
The win now put the Lakers on top of the Alliance East standings with 8 wins and 0 losses. A fantastic start but they will be tested next weekend as they see action against Cambridge and Brantford who are tied for 2nd in the East with 13 points.
Keep working hard, Lakers!
