The Huron Perth Laker Minor Atom team competed in the Preston International Tournament this past weekend. There was excellent competition with 20 Minor Atom AAA teams from all over Ontario and the USA.
The Minor Atoms team had 2 tough losses to the top ranked Vaughn Kings and the Barrie Colts but tied the Hamilton Reps 2-2. Scoring for the Lakers during the weekend were Kaleb Pearson, Bayden Parent, Owen Gilhula and Brady Hinz. Lakers Goalies, Tanner Knechtel and Riley Deline shared duties between the pipes over the weekend. They were tested often, turned away many shots and did an excellent job to keep their team in the games.

The tournament’s All-Star Selection Committee selected Trevor Donaldson and Owen Gihula as All Star players at the tournament. The All Star game was an exciting and entertaining event with Walter Gretzky on hand to coach the players and hand out trophies. Trevor and Owen represented the Huron-Perth Lakers well as line mates on the home team. Great passing, strong team play and hustle resulted in many scoring opportunities by both players. They scored the second goal of the game with Donaldson setting up Glhula who made no mistake in burying the puck in the net. Way to go Lakers!
