Back to Back Wins for Major Bantams
The Huron Perth Lakers Major Bantam’s racked up back to back wins at home on 02 & 03 Dec 11.

On Saturday, 02 Dec 11 the Lakers faced off against the Cambridge Hawks in St. Mary’s. After a scoreless 1st period which saw both teams fail to capitalize on their opportunities, the Hawks got on the board in first in the 2nd period and added another goal in the 3rd to make the score 2 -0, before the Lakers began to rally and find the back of the net.

Ted Nichol scored the first Laker goal, assisted by Jamie Huber and Nathan Smith. Zach Jacobs would also score, assisted by Ted Nichol and Jamie Huber to tie the score at 2 – 2, 90 seconds later. Cullen Mercer had the 3rd and final goal, assisted by Kenny Huether and Trent Dundas to edge out the Hawks, 3 – 2

On Sunday, 03 Dec 2011 the Lakers met the Kitchener Jr Rangers in Goderich, eager to avenge an earlier loss. The Lakers came out and quickly got down to business by laying on the body whenever a Ranger touched the puck. Both sides had excellent scoring opportunities however this rematch was going to be a battle won by bounces, luck and superb goal tending.

Ted Nichol opened the Laker scoring at the 13:00 min mark on a great unassisted effort to close out the 1st period at 1 – 0 for the Major Bantams.

Greg Hansford got the Lakers their 2nd goal early in the second period, assisted by Maverick Petrie and Mitch Kellington to make the score 2- 0. Penalty trouble by the Lakers threatened to erode the lead and give Kitchener ample opportunity to even up the score. Owen West was sharp in net and kept his team in the game on what would otherwise have been the tying and perhaps go ahead goals for Kitchener.

The 3rd period was a grinder’s game and the Lakers worked hard to stay out of the box while Owen West shut the door on any Kitchener opportunities to come away with a shutout and preserve the win for the Major Bantams.
