Game slips away in Final frame
Ahead of this weekends Midget AAA Showcase in Brantford, the NA Engineering Midget Lakers find themselves tied for 2nd with a 2-3 record. The positive is the 3 losses could have and should have been wins and 5 Lakers find themselves in the Top 10 for Scoring.

Case in point, the Lakers travelled to Waterloo Monday night. This is the 1st year most of these players are experiencing three 20minute periods and by the half way mark of the 2nd had built a solid 2-0 lead. But with 30 minutes of game time left, the struggles began.

The team currently has 3 players out of the lineup. Stratfords Greg Hansford and Jeremy Kuehn, from Kitchener have each yet to play a game due to injury and Listowels Broedy Karelse was out of the lineup lastnight due to a slight shoulder injury sustained in Saturdays 6-0 win vs Brantford. The rash of injuries left the team with only 6 Defense and 9 forwards which makes it tough for any team to maintain momentum for a full 60 minutes.

By the end of the 2nd the teams were tied 2-2. The final period saw Waterloo pull ahead 5-3. With exhaustion setting in causing countless defensive zone turnovers, it could have been a lot worse. But the team dug deep and battled back to make a game of it.

Colin Burns scored his 3rd of the game with 26 seconds to play to get the Lakers to within 1. Time ran out and the final was 5-4 Waterloo.
