Our Midget hockey program combines hard work, commitment and dedication as our core values. We strive for the athletic development of our players in a fun yet disciplined environment. With the support of a solid and dedicated coaching staff, management and our volunteers, we will achieve success on & off the ice.

 

Home Facility: STRATFORD ROTARY COMPLEX                    Seating:  1400+

 

Home Night:  SUNDAYS 2:30PM

 

Practice Times: TUES & WED NIGHT @ 8:30-10:30pm

 

Dressing Room and Amenities:

 

o NHL Size Ice with Seating Capacity of up to 1400 + Standing Room

o Comfortable Chairs with cupholders

o Heated Viewing area and Seating area

o Referee & First aid rooms

  • Players are supplied with pant shells, bags, wind suits, practice jersey/socks, custom game jerseys, stick and shinpad tape for season, significant team discount on sticks

o Equipment repair station, including portable skate sharpener

 

 

 

Trips and Tournaments: The team will participate in a maximum of 5 tournaments (2 travel, 2-3 local & with nothing over Christmas). A major travel tournament is in the works.

 

 

Coaching Staff - Experience and Certifications

 

Nathan Herrington- Head Coach

A graduate from the University of Waterloo where he majored in Sociology, Herrington holds a High Performance 1 Coaching Certification combined with over 7 years of AAA coaching experience. His career highlights also include being named as an Assistant Coach for Team Alliance U16 (2010) and Team Ontario U16 (2011- Canada Winter Games).

His playing experience consists of:

o    2nd Rd Draft pick of the Guelph Storm, playing for Guelph, Kingston & Brampton

o    Member of 1999 Team Ontario- Canada Winter Games

o    Member of 1999 Team Canada U18- Four Nations Cup (Gold)

AJ Yoworski- Asst Coach

    • 8 years coaching experience, three of which were spent with Herrington.
    • Played Jr. B. for the Waterloo Siskins of the GOJHL
    • Played Collegiate Hockey with Conestoga College
    • Fulltime firefighter in the City of Toronto.

 

Doug Groenestege- Goaltending Coach

    • Currently the Video Coach and Asst Goalie Coach for Stratford Cullitons
    • Played in OHL for 3 years
    • Played Professional for 10 years

 

Cory Campbell- Strength & Conditioning Coach

o    Owner of  Cor Fitness & trainer at Hockey Training Above (team training facility located at Rotary Complex)

    • Played in the OHL for 4 years
    • Member of the all-rookie team in the OHL
    • Won OHL championship as a member of the Belleville Bulls
    • All-Star goalie at Memorial Cup
    • Drafted in the third round by Los Angeles Kings (NHL)

 

Kathy McLlwain- Power Skating Technician

o    21 Yrs - Professional Powerskating Coach

o    Certified - Skate Canada & Hockey Canada

o    Currently Skating Coach - OHL Sarnia Sting
