Unbeaten Major Bantam Lakers Advance to League Semi-final
The Huron Perth Lakers AAA Major Bantams advanced to the League semi-final with a 2-1 overtime win over Kitchener on Thursday night.

After Kitchener was able to steal a point on Tuesday by earning a tie, the Rangers came out ready to extend the series once again, scoring in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. The score held up until late in the 3rd before Dylan Lazarus turned & fired a shot that caught an unexpected Kitchener goalie completely offguard. The puck found the bottom corner & the Lakers were back in the game.

At the end of regulation, the teams headed to a 5 minute sudden death overtime period for the second time in this series. The Lakers dumped the puck deep in the Kitchener zone at every opportunity allowing their aggresive forecheckers to keep Kitchener pinned deep. Heading into the last minute of play, the Lakers were guaranteed to advance with the tie so the Rangers pushed for the win, pulling their goalie for the extra attacker. However, a neutral zone scramble saw Garrett Meurs emerge with the puck to go in alone and score the winner with 3 seconds remaining.

With the win, the Lakers improved to 6-0-1 in the playdowns & will meet the Regular Season Champion Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs in the Semi-final series that will start next week once the schedule is finalized.
