Back on Track!
The Laker Minor Peewees got back on track last week obtaining 5 of a possible 6 points with wins over Brantford and London Gold and a tie vs. Kitchener. The 5 points secured their position on top of the Alliance East standings as well as overall with 24 points. Waterloo sits in 2nd with 22 points while London Gold currently has 21 points. This marks the halfway point of the regular season for the Lakers.

After practicing 2 team systems diligently last Monday, the Lakers scored early and frequently against Brantford on Tuesday night eventually winning by a score of 6-2.

Against Kitchener on Saturday the boys could not bury their early chances and found themselves down 2-0 early into the 2nd period. Determined efforts led to 3 goals by the end of the 2nd to put the Lakers ahead 3-2. In the 3rd period the Lakers would again fail to capitalize on good scoring opportunities and eventually allow Kitchener to tie the game. The game would end in a 3-3 tie with the Lakers not feeling good about the result.

Knowing they would have to come out with a better effort on Sunday against London Gold, the Lakers did just that and played a very fast paced game; eventually winning by a score of 2-1. AP’s Jake Finlayson and Kade Landry were called into action on Sunday and helped with an already strong team effort to nail down the win.  The ‘W’ on the scoreboard was obviously more important than any individual statistics on Sunday and that's what explains the Minor Peewees' success so far this year.

The Lakers will hope to carry that mentality into this weekend’s Blueline tournament in Kitchener.

Good Luck Lakers!

Skate 365 Synthetic Ice
Located in Mt. Forest, Skate 365 is a retailer of synthetic ice. Contrary to real ice, Synthetic ice requires no cold weather, refrigeration or watering. Synthetic ice is composed of special synthetic polymers so its surface can be enjoyed year-round and in all temperatures. Skating on Synthetic ice gives the same effect and feel as real ice. Hockey players state that the effects of the puck on synthetic ice respond the same way as real ice. Imagine being able to practice skating routines or playing hockey in your own driveway in the middle of summer on regular steel edge skates! Roller blades on pavement does not offer the same sensation nor does it offer the same puck response for hockey players. There is no adapting to synthetic ice, it’s as close as you can get to real ice without freezing and what you learn in your sport will be applied the same way on real ice. Common Applications Hard surfaces like basement floors, garage floors or tennis courts are typical installation sites. Panels can also be installed on hardwood floors or asphalt / cemented parking lots and driveways.
