Minor Atom Lakers snag a 3 point weekend
The Minor Atom Lakers hosted the Sting from Lambton in a Saturday afternoon game in St.Marys. The Lakers started out well and forced Lambton into some turnovers and constant pressure in the offensive end.  After 2 periods played both teams were knotted at 1 with both teams having good chances at each end. In the third the Lakers were able to push one past the Lambton goalie on the powerplay with 8 minutes to go in the third.  With some pressure at both ends, Lambton scored the tying goal with less than 3 to go to send both teams home with a point a piece.  Sunday, the Lakers traveled to

Brantford for the last meeting between the two teams this season. The Lakers started strong and carried a lot of the play and finished the first ahead by a goal. The Lakers continued their strong play, and scored another half way through the second only to see Brantford reply to send the Lakers up by a goal into the third.  Early in the third Brantford scored on the powerplay to knot the game at 2 with 11 minutes to go. With a very good tempo in the third both teams were able to create some chances at both ends.  With three minutes to go the Lakers scored, and held off the Brantford forecheck the rest of the way to earn two valuable points in a very tight East division. The game in Brantford was the Lakers last game before Christmas and sit fourth in the East with 31 points but only sit 4 points out of first. The Minor Atom Lakers hold a record of 13-6-5 in league play, and do not play again until they host Sun County on January 3 in St.Marys.
