Major Peewees 3 Game Weekend Has a Strong Finish
Friday night against Kitchener was a wake up call for the peewees . The team came out flat and found themselves down 2- 0 just 3 minutes into the game . The team got on the board by the end of the 1st. when Aly Mcleod scored unassisted .
Then half way through the 2nd in a 2 - 1 game the Lakers got themselves into penalty trouble and gave up 2 PP goals in 2 min. making the game 4 - 1 for the Rangers . With 2:49 left in the 2nd Zac McCann would score on the PP assisted by Sheldon Pryce and Kaden Hoggarth. Before the end of the period the Rangers would score and regain the 3 goal lead heading into the 3rd. Kitchener added 1 more in the 3rd period as did the Lakers Mitch LaFay who scored assisted by Eric Roes and Jack Robinson, ending the game 6 - 3 for Kitchener.
Saturday the Lakers would host Cambridge in a much better effort even though the outcome was a 2 - 1 loss. The Major Peewees played very well end to end action down 2 - 0 heading into the 3rd and at 14:22 Blake Wideman scored assisted by Aly McLeod to make it a 1 goal game . With great defence work and backchecking hard the Lakers could not find a way to beat the Cambridge goalie a second time . Great job in net by Hardy Westman.
On Laker day the Chiefs would be in town who have always been a tough opponent for the Lakers. Even though Elgin would win this match 1 - 0 , it was probably the best that the Major Peewees has played this season as a whole . Great defensive play , backchecking very well , moving the puck and had lots of scoring chances . Again another great job in net by Carter Roth .
Keep working hard , the goals and wins will come !!
Go Lakers Go!
