Minor Atom Lakers Win Another Against Chatham-Kent
This past weekend the Minor Atom Lakers hosted the Chatham-Kent Cyclones.

After getting down 1-0 early the Lakers continued to battle and Carson Harmer, on a great individual effort slid a low shot through the goalies pads to tie the game 1-1 heading to the second period.

In the second the Lakers defence shut down the Cyclones offence and made some great outlet passes to the forwards. Houben took a pass from Medhurst in the neutral zone and drove wide around the Cyclones defence and roofed a back hander for a 2-1 lead. Jewitt followed this up with a tap in goal after he, Harmer and Barch cycled the puck down low and moved it to the front of the net for a 3-1 lead.

In the third the boys continued to roll when Visneskie drove the net and snuck one in on the short side after taking a pass from Houben for a 4-1 lead. The Cyclones were able to get back within two on the power play but the Lakers responded when Medhurst took a pass from Visneskie and wired a shot off the crossbar but Houben was in the right place at the right time and banged the puck in as it fell to the ice for a 5-2 lead.

Chatham-Kent scored a late one but it was too little too late as the Lakers came out with a 5-3 win. Jack Bree got the win in the pipes making some highlight reel and timely saves.

The Lakers travel to Hamilton this coming Sunday for their next test!!
