Minor Atom Lakers Win Round Robin Now Face Sting in Playoff Finals
This past weekend saw the Minor Atom Lakers play the second half on the home and home series' against Cambridge and Brantford.

On Saturday the Lakers faced the Hawks in St. Mary's and came out on top with a 6-4 win.

The Hawks didn't have an answer for Harmer who potted five of the Lakers six goals. He was all over the ice and frustrated the Hawks defence over and over again.

The other Laker goal went to Jewitt who fired a high shot over the outstretched glove of the Hawks netminder after taking a beauty pass from Kipfer and Visneskie. Assists on the Harmer goals went to Coward with two and singles to Marshall Olmstead and Barch.

The Lakers defence continued their shut down ways keeping the Hawks to the outside and making great outlet passes. Boersma again played amazing making timely saves and picking up his teammates when the Hawks were able to break through.

On Sunday Harmer again drove the offensive bus for the Lakers scoring three goals and adding an assist in a 5-3 win against the Brantford 99ers.  Assists on the Harmer goals went to Kipfer and Jewitt.

The Lakers played an extremely well rounded team game as the defence of Houben, Coyne, Hodge, Coward, Nicholson and Medhurst limited the 99ers offensive opportunities by stepping up at their own blue line and pinching on the offensive blue line, time and time again.

The Lakers offence of Harmer, Olmstead, Marshall, Visneskie, Fraser, Kipfer, Jewitt and Barch continued to drive the net and cycle the puck down low which lead to several great  scoring chances.  Other Laker goals were scored by Visneskie with a beauty top shelf short side shot and Fraser who drove the net hard and banged in a rebound. Assists on these goals went to Marshall, Hodge and Barch.  Bree won another start against the 99ers who this year had a tough time figuring out the calm and cool Laker puck stopper.

The Lakers now face off against the Lambton Sting in the playoff finals starting next weekend after the March break. Check the Minor Atom Lakers website for game times and locations and come out and cheer on this exciting team who have won four in a row and five of their last six games!!!
