Minor Atom Lakers Win Two on Weekend.
This past weekend saw the Minor Atom Lakers start their round robin series against Brantford and Cambridge.

On Saturday the Lakers hosted the 99ers in Game 1 and continued their recent success with a 6-3 win.

The Lakers played an all around great game. The forwards cycled the puck down low and drove the net while the defence moved the puck and blanketed the 99ers offence. Bree had the start in the Lakers net and turned them away time after time frustrating the visiting team.

First period Laker goals were scored by Marshall and Harmer with assists going to Visneskie Olmstead and Marshall. In the second the Lakers continued to roll with Marshall picking up his second of the game with assists going to Harmer and Olmstead and Barch banged one in after Fraser made a great pass to him in front of the net.

In the third the Lakers scored two more to seal the victory. Goals were scored by Fraser assisted by Harmer and Medhurst while Harmer scored his second on an empty net after Visneskie sprung him with a great saucer pass.

On Sunday the Lakers traveled to the Cambridge to face off against the Hawks.

The Lakers squeaked this one out with a 6-5 overtime win.

Boersma got the start in this one and played extremely well, standing tall in his net and sealing off the bottom of the net when the Hawks tried to switch it up.

In the first the Lakers defence continued to roll coming around the net and making tape to tape passes and pinched on the offensive blue line when they had the opportunity.

Goals in this game were scored by Harmer with two and singles to Fraser, Houben, Kipfer and Jewitt. Assists went to Olmstead with two, Coward with two and singles to Jewitt, Harmer, Houben and Coyne who made a great D to D pass to Jewitt on the power play who fired it into the top of the net.

The overtime goal scored by Harmer was a beauty after Olmstead created a turnover at the blue line and Harmer picked up the loose puck and fired a low hard wrister past the Hawks netminder.

The Lakers return to action this weekend on Saturday in St. Mary's when they host the Hawks and head to Brantford on Sunday to face the 99ers.
