Minor Peewees improve over course of Shanahan Tournament
The Minor Peewees displayed a solid defensive effort over the course of four games at the Shanahan Tournament going 1-3 and holding their opponents to 7 goals.

The Minor Peewees faced the Vaughan Kings in their opening game of the tournament on Friday morning. Vaughan played a very strong first period but was only able to score one goal. In the second period, the pendulum swung the other way and it was the Lakers who came on strong, although unable to score the equalizer. Neither team scored in the third period and the Kings came away with the win.

The Lakers second game that day was against the Buffalo Regals. Buffalo scored one goal in the first period. The second period was scoreless, and the Regals scored a powerplay goal in the third to win 2-0.

The Lakers third game (first game on Saturday) was against the Burlington Eagles. Neither team scored in the opening period. The Eagles pulled ahead in the second period with a single goal. Both teams had a powerplay goal in the third period with the Eagles coming out on top 2-1.

The Lakers fourth game was against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders, a team the 95 Lakers had seen several times over the last few years but had been unable to beat. The Raiders scored first by scoring the only goal of the first period. The Raiders added another goal in the second period (a powerplay goal) but the Lakers scored two goals of their own (an even strength and a powerplay goal) and the second period ended 2-2. The third period saw the Lakers score the only goal of the period to defeat the Raiders 3-2.

The Lakers played four very strong, competitive games at the tournament and got stronger as the tournament progressed.
