Minor Midgets Even Semi-Final Series 1-1
Joel Alton scored twice and Tyler Kuntz notched the game winner in a 3-2 thriller at Goderich Memorial Friday night.  The Lakers came out extremely flat in this one, and the 99'ers took advantage, scoring an early shorthanded goal.  The boys were able to rebound, however, and Alton tipped his first of the night right off the offensive zone faceoff, with a good point shot by Craig Dalrymple.

The line of Kuntz, Chett Binning, and Mark Verkley were then able to physically control the game over the second period, allowing the other forward lines more room to work.  Alton scored his second and Brantford quickly answered before Kuntz notched the third goal for the lakers on a nifty on-time shot.  That would be all the scoring to be had in the game, although the Lakers had numerous quality chances.

The team also had to survive a 4-minute minor penalty with just over two minutes remaining in the game, including a 6-on-4 situation for the final 45 seconds.  Strong netminding by Braden VanNynatten and excellent penalty killing preserved the win to even the series at one game apiece.

Game 3 takes place back in Brantford at the Gretzky Centre at 7:00 pm on Sunday night.
