MP's Continue With Strong Play In Shanahan Tournament
The Huron Perth Lakers MP's had a strong showing in Toronto this weekend going 3-1 in round robin play but fell just short of advancing with it coming down to the goals for average to advance.

The HPL Minor Peewees faced the Ottawa Sting in game one and came out on top 2-1 playing strongly in all facets of their game. Goals scored by Nathan Templeman and Derrick Elliott. Assists by JamesGoetz, Carter and Stulp-Jacobsen. Game two was a late match starting at 9 pm at night but the Lakers were not asleep and came away with a 5-3 win over the Syracuse Stars. Goals by Boyes, Stevenson, James Templeman and Tenpas. Assists by James, Elliott, Boyes, Peters, Moir and McCann.

On day two of tournament play the Lakers faced the Richmond Hill Stars and unfortunately, despite very sound play and out-shooting them 25-18, the Lakers fell 4-3 to the Stars. Goals by Peters, Templeman and Tenpas . Assists by Templeman,Tenpas, Moir (2) and McCann With 90 minutes of rest the Lakers faced the Brampton Battalion and played a sound game yet again for a 2-1 win. Goals by Elliott and Carter, unassisted. Strong net play by Ryan and Thomas rounded out the weekend.

The Lakers played a terrific weekend of hockey and didn't get treated to the red light as often as they should have as they had many good scoring opportunities. The Lakers fell just short of advancing as there was a tie with three teams with 6 points each (only two teams were permitted to advance) and unfortunately their record needed to have just 1 more goal for or 1 less goal against to move on to the next round.
