Lakers Minor Peewees Force Game Six vs Waterloo
What a series! First match was a tie, second was a 4-3 Lakers win, third a 2-1 Waterloo win in OT, fourth a disappointing 4-1 Waterloo win and game 5 a come from behind 7-4 Lakers win. The kids, parents and spectators involved in this series cannot believe what they are witnessing! It is what hockey is all about, the highs, the lows and persevering through it all. Game 5, like almost every other game, had all of those wrapped up into it.

The Lakers faced Waterloo at the beautiful Waterloo RIM facility on Sunday with a "do or die" situation. Trailing the Wolves 5-3 in points the Lakers had their backs up against the wall going into the contest. A win or tie for Waterloo would eliminate the Lakers from the playdown round. The Lakers had a flat start being outshot by their opponent 9-4 in the first and dropping behind 2-0 before clawing back somewhat to 2-1 by period's end.

The Lakers rebounded to their game in the second with a quick goal, tying the contest at 2 apiece. Despite strongly outplaying the Wolves in the second and outshooting their opponent 13-5 the Wolves scored 2 more to end the second period with a 4-2 score.

With 11.5 minutes left on the board in the third the Lakers began their onslaught, draining three goals in a minute and 28 seconds. The Lakers then killed off a penalty by not even allowing a shot on goal before getting an insurance marker and an empty net goal to finish the game. The Lakers scored 5 unanswered goals in the last 11 minutes of play. The Lakers outshot the Wolves 26-18 in the match.

The Lakers and Wolves face off Monday night in Goderich at the Memorial Arena at 8 pm in what should be a heck of a game. Be sure to show up and support this terrific squad of athletes, AND MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!
