Minor Peewee Lakers Embroiled in Another Terrific Series
Submitted By Goetz on Sunday, March 2, 2008
Since the unbelievable Quarter Final series against Waterloo that took six games and a triple overtime for the Lakers to come out victorious last Monday, the Lakers have found themselves in overtime the first two games against London in the Semi Final.

Three overtime games in six days has made for a terrifically exciting playoffs for the HPL Minor Peewees. The Lakers face the London Knights in the Semi's, a team that has earned the respect of the hockey community over the last several years and sits ranked 7th in North America.

GAME ONE: The Lakers came from behind twice, Bailey Boyse scored the first marker with Derrick Elliott getting the assist.  the tying goal came with a little over a minute left in regulation with the keeper pulled When Nathan Templeman fed  a faceoff to Roland Mckeown who ripped a one timer from the blueline to split the two points with their competitor. The Lakers out shot and out chanced their opponent by playing very sound hockey and executing their game plan very effectively. London was lucky to get out with their point. Their powerplay however is something to be reckoned with. Overtime resolved nothing.

GAME TWO:  The Lakers faced the Knights at home and again out chanced and out shot their opponent in regulation. The Knights went up one to nothing with a soft one in the second and the Lakers tied it up in the third when Roland McKeown picked it up in his own end circled the net and went coast to coast to even the contest. The Knights preyed on some tired Lakers late in the overtime to pilfer the two points. The Lakers squad is determined and to get them back in their rink Wednesday night as they should have had more to show for their effort. Stellar goaltending, and strong defensive play have been at the forefront of the Lakers' success, once our offense is ignited the Minor Peewees will be playing their complete game.
