Lakers Minor Peewees Play A Terrific Weekend
With matches Saturday against Division rivals Brantford and Sunday against 2nd in the West Elgin-Middlesex, the Laker Minor Peewees knew they would have to play strong consistent hockey to come out of the weekend with 4 points.

Saturday the Lakers traveled to Brantford, having played two previous contests dropping one and tying one the Lakers knew they would have to be at their best. The Lakers came out of the gate strong, unfortunately so did Brantford and at the end of the first period it was still scoreless. The Lakers came out in the second on fire and took a 2 goal lead on some strong play by Bayley Boyes as he scored the first two goals of the game. The 99ers would not lay down though as they battled back tying the game at 2 a piece. Taylor Moir was the hero of the game giving the Lakers the go ahead and the 3-2 win. Garrett James, McKenzie Carter and Keigan Goetz recorded assists. Eric Ryan got the win in net with a strong consistent game. Brantford is a strong, well coached and respectful team and everyone was treated to a heck of a hockey game. It will be an enjoyable battle to the ultimate first in the East as we both share that position at the moment.

Sunday the MP's were on the road again to face another great rival from the Western Division. Elgin-Middlesex came out and played a strong first period against the Lakers resulting in a 0-0 first period score. The Chiefs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second but it did not phase the Laker squad at all as they responded with a 3 goal third period and went on to hold it to a 3-1 win. Boyes, Nathan Templeman and Alex Peters tallied the markers in the game. James and Ryan Stulp-Jacobson added helpers. Ryan got the win between the pipes again with another very strong game.

The Lakers MP's were reminded why we play at this level as we were treated to terrific competition this weekend and responded by playing very sound, energetic hockey.

The Huron-Perth Minor Peewees go into a 4 game stint next weekend but are quite excited at the prospect of having the services of Roland McKeown back.
