Play-offs Begin with a Tough Overtime Loss for Minor Atoms
The Minor Atoms travelled to Hamilton on Saturday to play the 1st game of the best of 5 series. They found themselves down 2-0 just 5 minutes into this game but before the end of the first Kyle Stanbury knotted it at ones, assisted by Joseph Serpa and Joshua Zelek.

The Reps would regain the 2 goal lead with 5:09 left in the 2nd, but "look out!" with the Lakers on a power play in the final minute of this frame it would be Braedan Burdett scoring with just 33 seconds left, assisted by Sam Dupuis and then, with only :01 seconds left on the clock, Carter McLlwain got a shot away just in time to beat the buzzer and the Reps' goalie to tie the game.

Both teams battled hard in the 3rd but the score would remain 3-3.

Now a 5 minute sudden death OT. What a heart breaker, at 3:09 of OT Hamilton would score to win game 1.

Bobby McLachlan between the pipes for this game and did a great job as did the whole team.

Game 2
Sunday would be game 2 in Goderich and a very similar start seeing the boys fall behind 2-0 again after the 1st. Two minutes into the 2nd the lads would fall to a 4-0 deficit. At this point, Bobby McLachlan who had a tough start with not much help would take a rest and Owen Hahn would go in. Welcome to the game Owen as the Reps would score again just 1 minute apart to go ahead 5-0. Finally, the team settled down and Sam Dupuis picked off a pass and went in alone and scored short-handed. Then at 6:38 Joseph Serpa dug the puck free in the corner and took a short scoring on the short side on a power play to make the score 5-2 with lots of playing time left to catch up.

Then at 10:10 of the 3rd, the defence moved the puck around the right side where Sheldon Pryce picked it up and passed ahead to Kyle Stanbury who then went the rest of the way scoring to make the game 5-3. Still 10 minutes to go but the Reps would once again regain a 3 goal lead. Even though Owen Hahn held them to 1 goal in the 3rd, the Lakers just couldn't muster the goals to complete a come back.

Great effort again by all, get them next week in game 3, boys.
