Minor Atoms on a Roll in Round Robin Play!!
After taking game 1 vs  Brantford 4-3, the boys came out strong on Saturday earning a 2-2 tie against Waterloo who we've not been able to beat since exhibition in September. Then today wrapping up the home and home with Brantford with another strong 7-2 win!!

Last week saw the Lakers play just well enough to win game 1 against Brantford. After a scoreless 1st period,  Sam Dupuis put the Lakers on the board assisted by Carter McLlwain and Joseph Serpa. Then 3 minutes later, Carter McLlwain scored to make the game 2-0 assisted by Sam Dupuis and Joseph Serpa. The 99'ers would score before the end of the 2nd, making the game 2-1 heading into the 3rd. Early in the 3rd, Sam Dupuis scored his second of the game assisted by Carter McLlwain. With a 3-1 lead, Brantford would battle back to tie the game at 3 with only 5 minutes remaining. Then, in the last minute, Jake Weston kept the puck in and took advantage of open ice by taking the puck right into the Brantford net - scoring to give the Lakers a 4-3 win, assisted by Braeden Burdett. Bobby McLachlan shut the door in net for this match and a decent game had by all.

The Saturday game in Stratford vs Waterloo would be a must win or tie for the Lakers to help their chance to advance past this round. Again, a scoreless 1st period and most of the 2nd until the Wolves would score with 6 minutes left in the period. Then, at 2:11 of the 2nd, Braeden Burdett would tie the game assisted by Maxim Mulder and Joshua Zelek. Into the 3rd and at 10:07 Joshua Zelek scored on a nice individual effort to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. Looking like the boys may hold onto this victory they would find penalty trouble with 2:24 left in the game. The Wolves with a man advantage and goalie pulled would tie the game at 2 with less than a minute remaining. This game would remain tied after the full 5 minutes of OT. Owen Hahn shut the door in this match and another great game played by all!!!

Sunday would see the boys travel to Brantford for another must win situation to stay alive. The 99'ers would score 1st but the Lakers would take over after that. Carter McLlwain tied the game assisted by Braeden Burdett, then 30 seconds later Carter would score again assisted by Kyle Stanbury and Jake Weston. 28 seconds later, Sheldon Pryce would score to put the Lakers up 3-1 assisted by Tanner Reid and Braeden Burdett (a 3 goal outburst in just 2:32 seconds). In the 2nd, Braeden Burdett would score assisted by Kyle Stanbury to put the team up 4-2 by the end of the period. At 11:08 of the 3rd, Jake Weston scored unassisted and Reid Campbell would score assisted by Tanner Reid and Kyle Stanbury to seal the 7-2 victory. Owen Hahn between the pipes for this game also!! Great team effort again by all!

It all comes down to the remaining game in Waterloo on Thursday night, the boys must win to stay alive!!!

Go Lakers Go!
