Lakers beat Brantford once, and Kitchener twice on weekend.

The Minor Bantam Huron Perth Lakers won all 3 games this past week against divisional opponents.  Thursday, in Kitchener, the line of Scott Stovel, Logan Kellington, and Mitchell Deelstra struck twice in a 2-1 win.  After a scoreless first period, Deelstra opened the scoring 4 minutes into the second period burying a shot from the slot area.  Stovel picked up the assist on the play.  Kellington's hard forecheck and centering pass from behind the net resulted in a Stovel goal to put the Lakers up 2-0 six minutes into the 3rd period.  Deelstra picked up the other assist on the game winner.  Kitchener would score with 32 seconds left to spoil Justin Hergott's bid for a shutout.

Saturday, in St. Marys, the Lakers exacted some revenge after 2 previous losses to Brantford, and defeated the 99ers by the score of 2-1.  After no scoring in the 1st period, Tanner Johnson put the Lakers on the board cashing in from the crease area after a nice feed from Noah Kuno behind the net.  Blair Butchart also assisted on the goal.  Stovel would increase the lead with just under 3 minutes left in the game, walking out from the corner and going short side on the Brantford goalie.  Kellington, and Deelstra assisted on the game winner.  Brock Baier would have his shutout spoiled with a powerplay goal against with 1:20 left in the third.  The Lakers took 8 minutes in penalties, while the 99ers served 6 minutes.

Sunday, in Goderich, the Lakers played terrific team defense, and received shutout goaltending from Hergott in a 3-0 win over Kitchener. After another scoreless first period, Kuno scored his first of 2 goals in the game, to take the lead 3 minutes into the second period.  Johnson and Butchart assisted on the goal.  Rhys Vollmer would score on the powerplay late in the 2nd period, as his snap shot eluded a screened goaltender to increase the Laker lead.  Isaiah Waxman picked up the lone assist on the goal.  Kuno would score into an empty net with 32 seconds left to seal the win.  Butchart picked up his second assist of the game.  The Lakers killed off 6 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Minor Bantam Lakers sit in first place in the East Division with a 10-5-3 record, and will face Sun County and Waterloo this weekend
