2014 Lakers fall in the Alliance finals, bring home silver!
The 2014 Huron Perth Lakers travelled to Komoka on the weekend to take part in the Alliance Championship.  The format would see the 3 East teams in a pool and the 3 West teams in a pool with each side playing the other in the round robin.

This would mean the Lakers would play the Elgin Middlesex Canucks, Sun County Panthers and Lambton Shores Sting, the first two being two of the top ranked teams in the province.  Day 1 would see the boys fall 3-2 to both the Canucks and Panthers in two highly contested games.  Good news was they weren’t done and with a win over the Sting and some help in the other games, they could clinch top spot in the East.  They would look after their business taking down Lambton Shores 5-2 and would get the help in the other games avoiding a trip to the quarterfinals that afternoon.  Sunday morning would see them against their division rival the Brantford 99ers in the semi final who had pulled off a thrilling overtime win over the Waterloo Wolves in late Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals.  The boys would come to play taking the semi by a score of 4-1 setting up a rematch with the Elgin Middlesex Canucks.  In another closely fought battle between two very even teams, the Lakers would ultimately fall in another one goal game by a score of 2-1.

Overall, the coaches couldn’t be prouder with the efforts these boys and their families put in this season.  It was a great group to be apart of which no doubt helped lead to their success on the ice.  Big things ahead for all of these kids whether it be with the Lakers or with another organization!!!
