Minor PeeWee Season Home Opener a Close Match with Waterloo
On Saturday, September 17, 2011 the Minor PeeWee Lakers hosted the powerful Waterloo Wolves in Milverton.

Despite the end to end play and intense battles for the puck, the Lakers fell short 4-3.

The Waterloo Wolves would score the only goal in the first period; however, the Lakers retaliated with 2 goals of their own in the second period to take the lead by the end of the second. At 5:26, Cameron Amos scored for the Lakers, assisted by Brady Hinz and Brooke Schroeder. Less than 3 minutes later, Owen Gilhula scored unassisted after winning the puck off the face off. This left the Lakers in a good position heading into the third period.

Unfortunately, the Wolves would score early in the third period to tie the game. Laker Malcolm McLeod scored the home team's only goal in the third period at 8:15 after the Wolves netminder wasn't ready for the shot from the Laker defenceman.

The Lakers were not able to maintain the lead, as the Wolves scored 2 unanswered goals within seconds of each other later in the third period.

Although the Lakers took a loss, Laker netminder Nate Young gets credit for his incredible agility and effort in fending off the wolf pack. Final score 4-3 Wolves.

The Lakers have an opportunity to regroup and put strategy in place for next weekend, where the Lakers will face the Wolves again on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
