Minor Peewees win 2 on Home Ice
Laker Day in Goderich proved to be a great crowd pleaser as the Minor Peewees defeat the Chatham-Kent 6-0.

The following day, October 16, 2011 the Lakers hosted Sarnia-Lambton in Goderich, defeating the Sting 3-2.

Despite getting into some penalty trouble the Lakers were able to defeat the Chatham-Kent Cyclones 6-0.  The Lakers have proved to be successful in their penalty kill, unlike the Cyclones, who allowed 4 goals scored when short a man on the ice.
Scoring for the Lakers was Brady Hinz (2), Eric Rolph, Cameron Amos, Kaleb Pearson and Evan Dowd.  Assists were awarded to Parker Gibbings, Hinz, Colton Atkins (2), Owen Gilhula, Pearson, Amos, Max Hall (2) and Bayden Parent.  Goaltender, Riley Deline received the honour of his first shut out of the season!

Everyone knew that the match against Sarnia-Lambton would prove to be exciting and a power of wills.  With a short bench, players playing out of their typical position and the need to bring in an AP the game would be challenging.  The Sting wanted redemption after the Lakers knocked them out of contention in the Hamilton tournament, just the week prior.  At the end of the first period the Lakers led the score 1-0.  The puck went end to end in the second, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.  In the third, opportunities were shared by both the Sting and the Lakers.  The Sting would score 2 quick goals early in the third period, to pull ahead of the Lakers.  However the Lakers still had lots of fight left.  The Lakers would find the back of the twine late in the third...twice!
Scoring for the Lakers were Parker Gibbings, Owen Gilhula and Kyle Stanbury.  Assists were awarded to Bayden Parent and Cameron Amos.  Nathan Young gets the win between the pipes for the Lakers.

The Lakers now take the road to London, Essex and Windsor on the weekend, where it is hoped their success and team work continue to prevail!
